Dekpor donations
Highview is supporting a charity in Africa. We have 800 students at Dekpor Basic School. Yes, we need new and gently used running shoes and soccer cleats! Highview friends, our drive just started yesterday. The collection boxes are in the front foyer. #GlassParasitesScorpionsSnakes #ShoesChangeLives

Welcome to the 2017 School Year
September is always such a busy month. The students have been settling into routines and learning their responsibilities. Most students are remembering to switch their shoes and put their iBags in the bucket each morning. They are learning to tidy up before moving to another activity and they are learning to use our timers for sharing toys.
Students are meeting new friends and playing with new toys and equipment that we have in the Kindergarten. We have visited the library, gym and music room. Ms. Bevens and Mrs. Marchand are other teachers that work with our students on a weekly basis.
We have had our first fire drill (always a good time).
Currently, we are doing an 'All About Me' unit. We are discussing what makes each of us special and unique. We are comparing our names: looking for letters that may be the same, the length of our name and things that make our names unique (e.g., ph in Sophie makes an f sound).

Valentine's Day
Sorry I didn't get this out sooner. We do celebrate Valentine's Day in Kindergarten.
Your child will need 15 Valentine's (homemade or store bought).
He/she needs to sign his/her name on each.
DO NOT ADDRESS EACH VALENTINE PLEASE.
Each child will have a mailbox they have decorated.
On Valentine's Day, each student delivers their mail (cards) into each mailbox.
We send them home at the end of the day.
You can send the Valentine's in early if you like. Just put them in a small baggie in the iBag.
Thanks for your support.
