See You Soon

This letter is from Mrs. Mah-Doucette.

It is with sadness that I inform you that I will be taking a Family Medical Leave effective immediately.  I will be spending time with my father who is terminally ill.

We welcome Ms. Dickinson who comes highly recommended and who will be teaching in my place.

I will be reading the blog, attending some in-school meetings and Mrs. Scott will keep me informed about the wonderful progress and exciting activities the students will be doing.

I look forward to seeing you and your child(ren) upon my return on Monday, April 25th.

Have a great March Break.

Cheers,
Mrs. Maureen Mah-Doucette

There's No Place Like Home

Our scientists in school visit was well received today. The students learned about which animals belong in which type of home and what kind of habitat they need.

Thank you to our parent volunteers who braved the weather.

The scientist introduced students to Busy the beaver and Sully the salamander.  They were captivated by the puppets.

Students rotated through five centers.
1.   Learning about animal tracks
2.  Learning about freshwater and saltwater animals
3.  Learning how birds build a nest and how they use their beaks and which animals live in treetops
4.  Learning about animals that live in tunnels
5. Learning about animals that live in the city, on the farm, in the wetlands and in the forest.

Ask your child which center was their favorite and what they learned.
I will post photos tomorrow.

Changes in morning entry

We are going to be changing our morning entry routine.  School starts at 8:35.  Please arrive on time and the students will enter the building instead of lining up.  As always, there will be supervision.  If you have any questions, please let us know.

JK Reading Program

Included in this week's JK RAH RAH books is a little booklet for you to keep at home.  It is called In My Hat.  You can colour and read it and perhaps keep it in a special spot to revisit it.  There will be a few similar books that are coming home over the next few weeks that focus on word families.

Cubbie Chaos

We are relocating all the children's cubbies.  Bus kids will be in the hall.  Daycare kids will be on the green benches.  Walkers will be in the long hallway near the doors.  We are hoping this will alleviate our traffic congestion. There will be an adult in each section.

Mind Map

This is our mind map of pioneer village.  Which activity was your child's favourite?

Pioneer Village on Friday

The students will need a lunch from home.  They will get their pizza at the end of the day.
They will need to be dressed for a day outside.  Please send them in proper clothing.

Enjoying The Great Outdoors

We had so much fun outside today.  We went for a walk through the forest and played in our 'nature playground'.  The kids were jumping off logs, rolling in the snow and played in the 'lean to' that was built.
