Valentine's Day

If you wish to participate in Valentine's Day, here is how it works in Kindergarten land.
You make or buy 27 cards and have your child sign them.  I suggest your start now and do a few a day.

DO NOT ADDRESS THE CARDS-unless you want to see Mrs. Mah-Doucette, Mrs. Crossley and myself go bald!  Imagine 27 addressed cards x 27 children.

On Friday February 13th, we will set out the 'mailboxes' and the children will deliver their cards. They drop one in each bag, including their own.  We do sort the bags into 2 groups-boys and girls (in case you have two different types of cards).

Hibernation or Migration?

We have been discussing how animals spend their winter.  We have a great cross section of a pond in the classroom to help us figure out where pond animals reside in chilly weather.  The students were curious about some of our other animals friends like the raccoon, otter and dragonfly.  We sorted some animals into groups:  those that hide in the pond, those that migrate and those that stay in the forest.  We have further investigation to figure out what part of the forest is a home for animals (e.g., under a log, in a nest) and where some other pass the time.  We'll keep you posted!

Welcome Back!

We are trying to get back in the swing of things.  Thank you to everyone who remembered their library book and indoor shoes.  Please ensure there is a set of extra clothes in the backpack.

It took us a few extra minutes to get dressed but that will improve I hope.
Please make sure your child has waterproof mittens for school.

Happy New Year

I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday with friends and family.  You'll notice I didn't say 'relaxing'.  If your holiday was anything like mine-it was mostly far from relaxing-but it was fun and I was happy to not make lunches for two weeks.
